Lots of running books, lots of natural therapy books.
Lots to learn.
I'll list them as they appear in the photograph above:
Sole Sisters... stories of women and running by Jennifer Lin and Susan Warner. Love this book, love hearing of the camaraderie that I share with my women friends, being shared amoung women all over the world, everyday.
Understanding Aromatherapy by John Kerr... I've had this book for almost 20 years. Fabulous reference book. I love burning essential oils about the home.
Runner's World Run Less Run Faster by Bill Pierce, Scott Murr & Ray Moss. My current bible. I am using the 16 week program in this book to train for my marathon in September.
Brain Training for Runners by Matt Fitzgerald. Lots of useful information in here... but the training schedule is WAY outta my league. More for professional runners that the likes of a amateur like me.
Racing Weight by Matt Fitzgerald... one of my main concerns, being light enough AND fueling well to have my body in it's best "race" ready form. Not lose my muscle!
Better Health through Natural Healing by Ross Trattler and Adrian Jones... My Mum gave me this book and I LOVE it, it is so useful and really a fountain of knowledge on all natural healing.
Healthy Family, Happy Family by Karen Fisher... awesome information, recipes and ways to combat fussy eating in children. She has a site dedicated to children and family here. I also have her Healthy Skin Diet book... and it is AWESOME. My 10year old has eczema... and these books are our bible for dealing with it via food, nourishment and allergies.
You can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay... so much of our illness is caused by our emotions. This, I firmly believe in. This book has been a constant companion of mine for about 20 years and I LOVE it. Louise herself has an amazing story (life experience) and she is a remarkable and inspiring woman. There has even been a movie made of her life story. Take a look at the trailer, you'll love it.
Fattitude by Craig Harper... again, another book on the mind manifesting issues for our bodies. Same goes for carrying extra weight... and the emotional and mental issues as to why we do so. This book gives quite a few ah-haaa moments during the read. A fabulous resource!
The Complete Book of Running for Women by Claire Kowalchik... I just love this book as a general information and "go-to" reference for all sorts of girly matters.
Run Like a Mother by Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea... AWESOME book. This book came right at the start of my running again, about 5-6 months ago... and it really inspired me to lace up and get out there. I love their witty sense of humor and candid telling of how it is for a Mum and a Wife trying to fit running into our busy life's. Many of their stories ... are mine too. They also have a blog here, which regularly features Running Mums and their inspiring stories.
The Non-Runner's Marathon Trainer by Whitsett, Dolgener and Kole... I WAS going to follow this program before I found the Runners World one. This book has so many interesting and inspiring stories, I really enjoyed them all.
Reading at bedtime is a little luxury I enjoy making time for... especially now that I am not getting up in the middle of the night to feed numerous times. So I CAN read, reading is able to come back into my life this past year or so, after a long time without it... I make the most of it, as you can see :)
Happy Reading... what are your favourite running/health... inspirational books?
